They are replacing the axel for me free of charge so it's all good. There still the best pedals iv ever ridden IMO. :)

Believe me, riding those pedals without shin pads, is just bad news.

The paint on them just doesn't really come off, the sides of them are shredded to bits. but the pins are also so high they stop the actual pedal body really hitting anything or getting scratched. :)
